Cogny Solo — Agent-Native Marketing Platform¶
Compiled 2026-07-07 from raw/cogny-solo-platform.md (researched 2026-06-19).
Why This Source Matters¶
Cogny is the clearest live example of a structural shift in MarTech: instead of building another dashboard, it exposes marketing channel data and actions as MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that any capable agent can drive. For a factory operator, this is the tool-pattern to watch — the gtm-engineering stack collapsing into "your agent + connected channels," which is precisely the architecture a marketing-factory needs for its SENSE and ACT layers.
Product Overview¶
Cogny Solo is the self-serve tier from Cogny (Stockholm-based, GDPR-compliant). Positioning: "Your AI runs marketing for you." Target: solo operators, indie hackers, small teams automating marketing without an agency or analyst.
Two modes of use:
- Built-in chat — no setup, preloaded marketing skills, pay-as-you-go credits
- Bring Your Own Agent — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI over MCP; one-command install (cogny install --pick-a-path) wires the MCP into the agent config
Product promise: reduce marketing experiments from 6–12 weeks (traditional agency workflow) to 1–6 hours.
Pricing¶
| Tier | Price | Model |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | $9/month | Unmetered MCP calls (fair use) for BYO-agent; chat on pay-as-you-go top-ups; free tier = 15 MCP calls/month, no card |
| Cloud | $499/month | 2,000 AI credits, all 31 MCPs + BigQuery, parallel execution, scheduled reports, shared workspace + org memory |
| Outcomes | Quoted | Full-service, custom MCP integrations, founder-led onboarding |
The $9 unmetered-MCP subscription is explicitly positioned against metered pay-per-call AI tools.
Channels & Skills¶
13 channels in Solo (31 in Cloud), including: Search Console (SEO), Bing Webmaster (AI-citation tracking / GEO), Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Reddit Ads, TikTok Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Plausible/Fathom, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Discord (community digests), plus Nordic tools (Fortnox, Rule, Get a Newsletter). Meta Ads and X Ads listed as coming soon.
Skills: a free open-source repo of 25+ Claude Code marketing skills (/seo-audit, /competitor-analysis, /ad-copy-writer, /subject-line-lab, /deliverability-check, /winback-engine, …); premium versions bind the same skills to live MCP channel data.
Company & Credibility¶
Founded by Tom Ström (CEO) and Berner Setterwall (CTO) — co-founders of Campanja (AdTech, $5M Series A, acquired by 247.ai in 2015), then the GrowthHackers agency, then Cogny. ~20 years in AdTech each. The product is essentially agency playbooks codified into AI agents.
Self-referential case study (GrowthHackers.se): +271% organic clicks in 3 weeks after a Cogny-powered site migration, +154% AI citations (Bing Copilot), PageSpeed 78 → 97.
Competitive Positioning¶
- Tagline: "An unfair advantage. Every marketing channel, connected, analysed and automated by AI."
- Positioned against traditional SEO dashboards (Ahrefs/Semrush comparison pages), manual agency workflows (10–100x experiment-velocity claim), and dashboard-based analytics ("ask questions, get answers — no dashboards").
- Differentiator: MCP-first architecture — a developer/agent tool as much as a marketing tool.
- Moat play: the open-source skills repo builds developer mindshare and lowers adoption friction.
Assessment for Factory Operators¶
Strengths: sharp niche (agent-using indie hackers), real technical differentiation (MCP), credible founders with a prior exit, GDPR/European positioning, free tier with no card.
Weaknesses / unknowns: no public revenue/funding/user counts; no independent reviews (no G2, Capterra, or Product Hunt presence as of 2026-06-19 — claims rest on first-party testimonials); agent-native positioning caps the addressable market at technical users; heavy dependence on the MCP/Anthropic ecosystem.
Takeaways for this KB:
1. The channel-connector layer is commoditizing — a factory shouldn't hand-build Search Console/Ads/ESP integrations when $9/month buys them as MCPs.
2. Skills-as-distribution — publishing the open-source skill set is the marketing (same pattern as Larry's ClawHub skill): the workflow itself is the growth asset.
3. Validation of the workflow-vs-agent framing at product level: Cogny sells predefined skills (workflows) over live data, not open-ended autonomy.
